Why do offer Wire Maintenance and Network Care?
Due to government regulation phones, jacks and inside wiring are owned by the customer.
If this equipment needs repaired and/or replaced the customer is responsible. If
we come to your home or business and find a problem that does not involve our facilities,
such as a problem with your telephone, jacks or insides wiring, you are charged a
$60.00 trip charge. In addition, you will have to pay $30 per half hour for labor and
premise material charges to have the problem fixed.
Wire Maintenance eliminates the cost, the time and the worry of maintaining your own
inside wiring and jacks. It allows us to take care of your inside wiring and jacks at no
additional cost.
Network Care includes Wire Maintenance protection and extends your maintenance to
the computer wiring up to and including the broadband modem, and then continues
covering the computer networking, up to (but not including) the computer(s).
What does Wire Maintenance cover?
- trip charges and labor charges
associated with a technician’s visit
- Inspection and testing of telephone
jacks and inside wiring
- Repair and/or replacement of
telephone jacks and inside standard
wiring
- Replacement of defective wiring
- Correction of wiring errors in jacks
and cross connect panels
- Identification (but not repair or
replacement) of any faulty components
such as telephones, answering
machines and computer modems
What does Network Care cover?
- Any wired or wireless router that we
provide and install
- Any wired or wireless computer card
that we provide and install
- Any broadband modem that we
provide and install
- Any properly installed wiring within
the network
- Any properly installed telephone
wiring as normally covered by Wire
Maintenance
What is NOT covered?
- Repair or replacement of telephones,
answering machines,
computers or any other customer
provided equipment.
- Computer hardware and software
we did not provide
- Improperly installed or non-standard
wiring
- Wiring destroyed by fire, flood or
natural disaster
- Wiring in an unattached structure or
separate building
- Wiring for new construction
- Key systems and PBX systems
- Moves or additions to your existing
telephone or data service
- CAT 3 wiring (networked systems
need a minimum of CAT 5 wiring)
- Problems caused due to incorrect
third party installation
Who is eligible for Wire Maintenance and Network Care?
All residential and business customers are eligible for wire and internet maintenance and
charges apply to each line served.
What if I do not have Wire Maintenance and Network Care?
We will complete the repairs at our current $60 hourly rate, billed in 30-minute increments
with a 30-minute minimum, plus a $60 trip charge. You may choose to complete
the repairs yourself or hire an electrician or contractor to find the problem and complete
the repairs at their hourly rates.
What is inside wiring?
We provide telephone service to your home or business through wires that run along
telephone poles or through underground cable. Once the wire reaches your home or
business, we connect it to a point in a connector box. Inside wiring includes all of the
wiring that runs from the connector box into your home or business, through the walls
and into your wall jacks where you plug in your phones.
What are the industry standards for inside standard wiring?
Inside wire should be 22-24 gauge (in diameter) and may be stranded (several wires
twisted together) or solid. The wire is housed in a polyethylene cover. Inside the cover,
the wire may appear as two wires, three wires or four wires. The cover should be colorcoded.
We do not cover any inside wiring that does not meet the industry standard (i.e.
speaker wire, electrical wire, etc.).
What is the cost of Wire Maintenance and Network Care?
Wire Maintenance is $2.50 per month per line
Network Care is $5.00 per month per line
When does Wire Maintenance and Network Care take effect?
Wire and Internet Maintenance becomes effective immediately upon signing up and a
12-month agreement is advised.
